Making a difference
Rebuilding young people's lives

We are building a new website which will be up and running as soon as possible.

In case you hadn’t heard that isn’t the only thing we are currently building!

The YMCA is investing £6.2m to create an amazing new building called Bolton Y:Pad & Academy that will provide affordable but aspirational accommodation for forty disadvantaged young people aged 18-25 years old.

The building is due to be completed in February 2022 and we are looking forward to handing over apartment keys and welcoming our first tenants in April.

Along with providing a fantastic new place they can home we will also give our young tenants all the support and guidance they need at this critical stage in their life, giving them the best chance possible to go on to realise their full potential.

The YMCA Academy is on the ground floor and will allow us to continue to deliver our traditional services for young people alongside the accommodation as well as offering other vulnerable and disadvantaged young people the opportunity to access other new activities. Ultimately, we expect over 200 young people will come each week and receive the benefit of the YMCA’s support.

This is the start of a new and exciting chapter in the YMCA’s 127-year history in Bolton, we can’t wait to get started!

How can you help?
£6.2m is a huge amount of money for an organisation like the YMCA to raise. Thanks to the amazing support we have received from sources to many to mention here, we have nearly achieved our target. That being said, we haven’t quite reached the finish line yet, so with that in mind we would be grateful if you could make any kind of donation. Your support would make such a difference!
